Shimmer
– Growing up knowing all of the songs in the movie The Little Mermaid, I have
come to expect a lot from my mermaids. This was definitely a totally different
take on the mer-people but it was good. I really enjoy the almost love story
but it was so good that I was totally bummed when the story ended. This short
story seemed more like the few chapters of a good book!
Between-I
like the genie and the supporting cast of this story more than I like the main
character. I found Lucy to be frustrating and a lot of decisions where
confusing. I it would have been easier to connect with her more if we had more
time with Lucy but as short stories go, the ending came all too soon and I was
left feeling confused and conflicted about this whole story.
Sunset Moon-I really enjoyed this story. I was totally into Eloise’s story and the
Indian myths entwined within. This is an instance story that I wanted more of
once I was done!
The Maker-This
was a totally vengeance driven storyline. It was a little too negative for my
taste but it made sense for the story to play out the way it did. The mythology
in this story was awesome I plot just wasn't to my taste.
The Beautiful Morning- Oh the ending! I was in pieces! This was a great
story. The characters were great, even the not so nice ones. This is just a
beautifully sweet story that I really enjoyed reading.
The Barricades- This story was really exceptional story that left me wanting more! The
world that is created in this fable is just enthralling and the story is just
as captivating!
All and all I really enjoyed
the stories in this books. Most of the stories I really didn’t want to end,
Sunset Moon and A Beautiful Mourning should be made into full length books that
would make me very happy. Each story is a small twist on folk lore most readers
will be somewhat familiar with. From mermaids to goddesses, this book has it
all. It’s reminiscent of the Grimm Fairy Tales and reminded of me the TV show
once.
